Maxwell Park

Our review

Maxwell Park is one of the most beautiful parks on Glasgow’s south side, and while we wouldn’t recommend it for size, it’s certainly worth a gentle walk with the dog on a Sunday afternoon.

Maxwell Park has a winning combination of large, open spaces and tree-lined paths. There’s also a very pretty nature pond with plenty of benches alongside it, if you fancy a break from your dog walk.

Very little traffic

Because Maxwell Park doesn't provide much of a through-route to pedestrians it's pretty much rubbish free.

The roads next to the park are also quite quiet, excepting St. Andrew’s Drive, so you don’t have to worry about your dog running under a car.

Good for families

Because the park is completely flat, it’s ideally suited to families with prams and anyone with mobility issues.

Families might also be interested to know that there’s a pretty decent children’s play park, should the kids not be quite so keen on walking the dog.

Taking in the south side

Call it a guilty pleasure, but if you’re not lucky enough to live in Pollokshields itself, Maxwell Park gives you a great opportunity to have a nosy at the grand houses that border the park. This is affluence at its best...

If you liked Maxwell Park then you may also like Newlands Park and Kings Park.
